| David Bohigian established the Invest in America initiative to attract foreign direct investment to the United States. He also launched www.entrepreneurship.gov to promote U.S. exports through the development of pro-growth policies overseas, and led the United States' first clean-energy trade mission, which introduced American firms to China and India. Bohigian focuses on creating a positive global business environment for American firms and workers by eliminating barriers to trade and investment and solving commercial disputes involving foreign governments. He is also the Department of Commerce (DOC) representative on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Bohigian previously served as lead economic and energy advisor to Secretaries Gutierrez and Evans. Prior to joining the DOC, he was a managing director of Idealab, which creates and operates pioneering technology companies and attracts the human and financial capital necessary to bring them to market. |
Fred Krupp is president of Environmental Defense, a national nonprofit organization that links science, economics, law, and innovative private-sector partnerships to create breakthrough solutions to the most serious environmental problems. The firm's four main goals are: stabilizing the earth's climate, preserving species and habitats, protecting human health, and safeguarding oceans and marine life. His newly released book, "Earth: The Sequel - The Race to Reinvent Energy and Stop Global Warming", is an optimistic look at how to alleviate climate change by aligning marketplace drivers with technological innovation and entrepreneurship. He has led a series of corporate partnerships with UPS, McDonald's, BP, Starbucks, and others. Since 1984, the budget of Environment Defense has increased from $3 million to $71.8 million, with new offices in New York, Raleigh, Austin, Boston, Los Angeles, Sacramento, and China. Krupp was named one of U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Leaders" in 2007. |
